Howard S. Dvorkin, Founder of Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc.

Howard S. Dvorkin is the Founder of Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc., a leader in the non-profit debt-counseling arena. He is a certified public accountant, a certified credit counselor, and a noted financial expert on consumer credit, personal financial planning, and tax strategies.

Mr. Dvorkin consults with many industry start-up organizations regarding proper operational procedures, educational marketing, and industry trends. He has been instrumental in the growth of the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA), a national trade association for the consumer credit industry. He is the past President of the AICCCA and has held positions as the Vice President, and Chairman of the Client Retention Committee. He is dedicated to public outreach initiatives and has contributed his time, knowledge, and resources to educating consumers about personal finance. He has helped thousands of individuals face and conquer devastating financial hardships and avoid personal bankruptcy.

He assists in developing promotional material and community outreach programs. He has traveled around the county conducting seminars and workshops to employee groups. Topics have included, Budgeting 101, Getting Out of Debt for Good, Credit Management - What You Need To Know, and Acquiring Smart Spending Habits.

His latest book “Credit Hell – How to Dig Out of Debt” (published by Wiley & Sons, April 2005) details how to rise from the debt inferno, the basics of good credit, consumer rights, credit related law, warning signs of credit problems, and a step-by-step budget organizer. As an expert on consumer credit trends and the causes and effects of being financially over-extended, Dvorkin has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Fortune, Entrepreneur, The American Banker, Investor’s Business Daily, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle, as well as a host of national and local newspapers around the country and such web sites as CBS MarketWatch.com, Bankrate.com, and CNNfn.com. He has also been a guest on countless national and local television and radio programs, including the CBS Nightly News, The Early Show, FOX News, and CNN

Most recently, Mr. Dvorkin won the South Florida 2007 Diamond Award. The award acknowledges outstanding individuals who exhibit exceptional leadership, who have helped set standards in the corporate community, and who have improved the quality of life for South Florida businesses and residents. In 2006, Mr. Dvorkin was honored at the annual gala for the State of Israel Bonds and awarded the Israel Bonds Commemorative Medallion for his good works for the betterment of the State of Israel. He was the South Florida Business Journal's Nonprofit Heavy Hitter in 2005. This award is presented to outstanding individuals for their contribution to nonprofit organizations in South Florida. He was also nominated for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2006 and 2004 and has been a finalist for the South Florida Business Journal's Up and Comers Award in 2002 and 2003.

With Mr. Dvorkin’s guidance, Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc. was selected from over 150 organizations and was chosen as the “Overall Winner” for the South Florida Business Journal's 2006 Best Places to Work Award as well as winning the 2006 Best Places to Work - Medium-Sized Business Category.” Consolidated Credit also won the 2003 Business of the Year Award - Nonprofit Category.

He is very active in his community and is on the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida, the South Florida chapter of Junior Achievement, The Young Entrepreneurs Council, and Henderson Mental Heath Center. In his role at The Young Entrepreneurs Council, Mr. Dvorkin counsels the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova University on program curriculum, to ensure that students acquire not only textbook knowledge but also, practical knowledge. Mr. Dvorkin has been a guest teacher in a Entrepreneurship and Management class at the American Intercontinental University in Weston, Florida. His mission is to assist in further developing the spirit of entrepreneurship via consultation, fundraising, and event creation.

He also dedicates his time to the National Leadership Council at American University. American University’s Kogod School of Business has inducted Mr. Dvorkin into the 1923 Society. Mr. Dvorkin is an Alumnus of the school and he has a passion to further the excellence that American University has granted his life. His focus has been on the university’s educators. He believes professorships and fellowships enable American University to attract and retain outstanding faculty in the areas of accounting, finance, information technology, international business, management, and marketing.

Dvorkin graduated from the University of Miami with a Masters Degree in Business Administration and he received his Bachelor of S cience Degree in Accounting from the American University. He is also listed in the Marquis Who's Who in the Finance Industry.
