Housing Seminars

Below is an overview of housing-related seminars, which are offered by Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc. at our training center at 5701 West Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The classes are offered on Thursday evenings and Saturdays during the day, see our schedule for current offerings/times.

Financial Wellness

This workshop will help you develop a financial plan for your life, and learn how to track and evaluate your spending. The Instructor explains the step-by-step process of creating a budget, and includes tips about how to help to stick to it.

  1. Understanding Credit Reports & Scores. This informative workshop will show you what lenders look for on credit reports, how to establish good credit, and how to legally eliminate credit report errors for free.
  2. Identity Theft: Deter, Detect, Defend. This workshop teaches the Federal Trade Commission's "Deter, Detect, and Defend" program. You will also learn how identity thieves operate and how to protect your good credit.

First-Time Home Buyers (Pre-Purchase 1 and 2)

If you have not owned a home in the last three years, you qualify as a "first- time home buyer." This pre-purchase housing seminar will help you shop for lenders, learn to budget for housing expenses, and discuss credit reports and scores. Participants will receive a certificate of completion recognized by many First Time Home Buyer programs throughout the Tri-County area.

Post-Purchase

This housing seminar will educate home owners who are in financial crisis and behind in their mortgage payments, what happens in the foreclosure process and how to determine a plan of action for you to try to keep your home. Certified housing counselors will be available to answer questions and discuss your options.
