A Novel Way to Get into Debt

When Ryann Bee Gordon first heard the term “starving artist,” she told herself, “They don’t mean literally.”

Years later, she learned, “That’s not always the case.”

Ryann is a freelance writer living in Dallas, and she’s an aspiring novelist. So she readily admits she knew more about words than numbers.

“My income varies greatly,” she says. “I work by project and bartend for regular cash, which can vary by the night. That’s extremely difficult to calculate when it comes to budgeting.”

Even though she realized that she didn’t exactly follow her own advice.

“It had been years of living the high life, partying, and writing my first novel with little income, and living off credit cards,” Ryann recalls. “One day, everything changed.”

That day involved a serious look at her bank accounts…

“I realized I was thousands of dollars in debt – $9,270 to be exact,” she says. “My credit cards were accruing interest that I would never, ideally, be able to pay off, especially on the income I was living on. I was living in a dream world, and eventually that would come to an end.”

Fortunately for Ryann, she found Consolidated Credit before her life became a nightmare. But she was skeptical while making the phone call.

“I thought I was going to be in a conversation with a telemarketer or an uninterested customer service representative,” she says. “Instead, I met an expert who taught me a new world of knowledge.”

That expert was Rhonda, a certified credit counselor.

Rhonda was so thorough,” Ryann says. “Her in-depth of knowledge hit every nail I would have missed. After walking through my expense and credit history – which included multiple credit cards with varying amounts and interest rates – we established a plan that would pay off my debt entirely in just over five years!”

That wasn’t the best part…

“At the time, my credit card payments were already in the hundreds each month and rising with interest rates. What Rhonda said next pinned the tail on the donkey: My payments to Consolidated Credit would be only $239! I couldn’t believe what I was told. All my troubles had been solved.”

Even better, with her financial worries behind her, Ryann finished her book. It’s called The Bridge Inside.
