Consolidated Credit Welcomes Journalists

We’ll help you cover your bills, so you can keep covering your community

Consolidated Credit has partnered with the Society of Professional Journalists to offer the Journalist Finance Project. Because we know journalists – having been featured on FOX and MSNBC, USA Today and U.S. News, and many local news outlets – we’ll explain the project like this…

WHO?

Consolidated Credit is a nonprofit credit counseling agency approved by the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC has approved 57 in the United States. We’re one of the oldest and largest. Read more about us.

WHAT?

Journalist Finance Project logo

The Journalist Finance Project offers free credit counseling and, if you qualify, a deeply discounted Debt Management Program. A DMP can cost up to $79 a month in fees, depending on your circumstance. Consolidated Credit will cap that fee at $25 a month – and possibly less. We hope to break even, but we’re prepared to lose money to help you. Read more about DMPs here.

WHERE?

Any journalist in the United States. Freelance or full-time. Furloughed or laid off. You don’t need to be an SPJ member. (If you live in Canada, we can refer you to Consolidated Credit Counseling Services of Canada.)

WHEN?

The Journalist Finance Project runs through the end of 2020. If you choose to enroll in DMP, that must be done by Dec. 31, 2020.

WHY?

First, because we value what you do. Second, because our nonprofit status requires us to provide financial education – which isn’t a topic most Americans clamor to study. So we want to spread our name among as many journalists as we can. We want them to know what we do, and how well we do it.

You’re an expert in your field. We’re experts in ours.
