On May 20, Floridians can learn the homebuying process for free from industry specialists.
Consolidated Credit’s annual housing fair has grown so large it needs a new venue – and a new name.
In its sixth year, the event will be held at Nova Southeastern University. With rising interest rates and costs for affordable homes in Broward County, the event’s coordinator expects at least 300-400 Floridians to attend on Saturday, May 20.
Consolidated Credit’s Director of Housing Counseling and Community Outreach, Sandra Tobon landed on Nova Southeastern. In collaboration, the two organizations decided on a rebrand from housing fair to “Housing Summit.”
“We’re trying to educate everyone in the community,” Tobon says. “I want them to understand this is not an easy process. They really need to understand all aspects to purchase a home. And that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Attendees receive free consultations with housing industry specialists from all areas of the homebuying process:
- Learn about housing programs and financial assistance
- Meet community reinvestment act institutions
- Find out about county rental assistance programs
- Meet realtors, lenders, home inspectors, title companies & property and tax appraisers
- Speak with bank and or credit union representatives
